Meagan became a Certified Lavish Lashes® Stylist in February 2012 and a trainer in June 2012. She is very proud and happy to be a part of the Lavish Lashes® family and enjoys teaching others in what she feels is the safest lash extension application process in the industry. Meagan is a single mom and working for Lavish Lashes® has provided her the opportunity to work part-time and spend quality time with her son.

Q: How did you get started in lashes?
A: I always worked seasonally and made a lot of money quickly. My plan was to open a bed and breakfast. After I became a mother, I knew I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom, but I also realized working in a coffee shop was not going to cut it. I happened to come across a girl who was doing lash extensions out of her house and doing very well. When I found out what the profit margins were, and that there was a two-day course to learn the application, I said, “I can do that!”

I took the course and started my own business. Within a couple months I realized that I not only liked doing it, but I was really good at it.

Q: Why did you choose Lavish Lashes® for your training?
A: Before I took the training, I heard that people chose Lavish because of its higher safety standards. After I took the training, I realized that it was just an incredible company to be a part of; there is a genuine sincerity and integrity in this company that I don’t think I’ve seen in other places. Everyone at the company is really friendly and goes out of their way to help you. I have been amazed to see how such a large company cares about people. For example, Mary Jane Dana, Co-founder of Lavish Lashes®, teaches these classes every week and passes out her phone number to everyone and tells them they can contact her any time. When you do, she gets back to you, helps you, and she answers each and every text. I just think that’s unheard of in such a large company.

Q: Why did you become a trainer and how did it come about?
A: I started asking questions and sending pictures of my work to Mary Jane. Mary Jane said, “You do a really good job. I think you should be a trainer.” I became a trainer and now I run a business out of my home and train a few classes during the month. I also work in one of Edmonton’s biggest salons, The Beauty Lounge.

Q: What would you tell someone that was considering taking Lavish Lashes® training to become a stylist?
A: There are a lot of reasons to choose Lavish Lashes®, but one thing I think is really amazing is how they stand behind their word and go out of their way to accommodate students. I can’t imagine another company caring as much about individuals as they do. Students are always very happy with the company and with the training. The word is spreading. When I ask new students why they chose Lavish, they say it is the company to go to and usually know a friend who also completed Lavish training.

Q: Since you’ve been doing lash extensions, what have you seen as far as the quality of other lash extension applications?
A: After I started, I began seeing what other people were doing. Clients were coming to me from other studios and the work was horrible. I wondered where these stylists were getting trained because they did not learn what I learned. Slowly I began to understand that my training was the highest quality training in the industry. I have yet to see another company that has the same set of standards regarding quality, safety, and beauty as Lavish Lashes®. I tell my students that I am really thankful that I was trained through Lavish.

Q: What is the most important thing you can teach your students?
A: Regarding technique, absolutely under no circumstance can there be two natural lashes attached to a synthetic. Regarding business, remember that Lavish Lashes® wants you to succeed. Call us, ask us questions, get certified through our training, and use our name and advertising material to promote yourself.

Q: As a trainer, do you find that most people take both the basic and advanced training class, or just the basic?
A: I’d say sixty percent of my students only take day one and forty percent take both days one and two.

Q: What kind of feedback do you get from people that took the second class?
A: Every one is thankful for taking day two. They feel more confident in starting their business after taking the advanced class.

Q: Do you keep in touch with your students?
A: Yes. A few students send me photos of their work and ask questions regarding their business.

Q: Do you see a lot of inferior lash jobs out there?
A: Yes. There are a lot of lash extension stylists out there who are not properly trained. They’re applying extensions and damaging people’s lashes. It’s happening left, right and center. I get a lot of customers coming to me because their lashes were applied improperly. For example, clients come to me from other studios in town with their lashes glued solidly together. I don’t understand how someone can do inferior work and send their client out the door. At Lavish Lashes® we are serious about educating people regarding proper standards.

Q: What’s the best thing about being a Lavish Lashes® Stylist and Trainer?
A: I love the work and providing quality service. I know I will continue doing extensions and teaching. This has allowed me to work about 40 hours a month, cover all my expenses and save some money. I am able to be a stay-at-home mom, which was my goal, and work for a supportive, reliable, honest and stress free company.

Q: What is it about Lavish Lashes® that makes them so great?
A: Lavish Lashes® has integrity. I haven’t had a single issue since I’ve been with them. Because they have higher standards, I think they will continue to take over the industry. Mary Jane is always trying to find, or create, better products to stay ahead of the curve. Lavish Lashes® is only going to keep growing!
